116 people rescued from Khargar hills in Maharashtra's Navi Mumbai

According to the police, entry to the Kharghar Hills and Pandavkada waterfall in Panvel area has been restricted owing to accidents during monsoon in the past.   Police and fire brigade personnel have rescued a s many as 116 tourists, including 78 women and five children, after they got stranded at Kharghar Hills in Maharashtra’s Navi Mumbai on Sunday. According to the police, entry to the Kharghar Hills and Pandavkada waterfall in Panvel area has been restricted owing to accidents during monsoon in the past. However, on Sunday, people from nearby areas managed to evade police and trek to the hills from sector 5 in Kharghar. The police said due to heavy rain the water level of a stream behind the golf course increased due to which the tourists got stranded. Heavy rains in that area led to the stream swelling, leaving the revellers on the hills. The police and the fire brigade officials rescued them using an iron ladder and a plastic rope. Two Maharashtra District to go under complete lockdown as the Covid-19 cases rises

Central team of experts that visited Covid-affected Kolhapur and Sangli districts in Maharashtra have suggested a total lockdown in the two districts. The team expressed concern as to why the transmission was not stopping in the two districts despite a series of measures in place. “There are 10 districts which have a higher positivity rate as compared to the rest of the state and the Central team that visited some of them has emphasised on measures like testing, contact tracing, and vaccination…We are following all protocols,” Rajesh Tope, state health minister, reportedly said. Indian Defence Ministry issues formal tender for mega 40,000 crore submarine program

  It will be the first project to be implemented under the strategic partnership (SP) model that allows domestic firms to collaborate with foreign players to produce high-end military platforms in India. The  Defence Ministry on Tuesday issued the request for proposal (RFP) to domestically build six conventional submarines for the Navy at a cost of over Rs 40,000 crore, over a month after the mega acquisition project was cleared. The project is named Project 75 (India) It will be the first project to be implemented under the strategic partnership (SP) model that allows domestic firms to collaborate with foreign players to produce high-end military platforms in India.The RFP was issued to the Mazagaon Dock Shipbuilders Limited (MDL) and Larsen & Toubro (L&T), the two Indian companies shortlisted following a long-drawn process, according to the defence ministry. Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid foundation stones of multiple development projects in Varanasi on Thursday. The projects are worth more than Rs 1,500 crore at the IIT-BHU ground. NASA has announced on Wednesday that it is sending  two   new  missions to Venus in order to examine the planet's atmosphere and geological features. Bill Nelson, the agency's newly-confirmed administrator, said that the  two  sister missions, both aim to understand that how Venus became an inferno-like world, capable of melting lead at the surface.  He also said that the missions would offer the chance to investigate a planet NASA haven't been to in more than 30 years.  The missions, who have each been awarded $500m (£352m) in funding, are due to launch between 2028 and 2030. The last US probe to visit the planet was the Magellan orbiter in 1990. Both missions were picked following a competitive, peer-reviewed process based on their scientific value and feasibility of their plans. Facebook wants to provide a new tool for its content creators, that is, “Green Screen”. Facebook is testing the new tool so that it can be added. The new “Green Screen” tool will allow facebook users to add any video or image in the background of their Facebook Stories. This option is very much similar to the one available on Instagram already. US space agency NASA shared a stunning glimpse of a galaxy cluster ACO S 295.  The image features the galaxy cluster which is 3.5 billion light-years away from the Earth . The image has been shared by NASA Hubble official Instagram page where the caption states, “A cosmic crowd dazzles in this #HubbleFriday image. ..”  Describing the image, the post said, “The galaxy cluster ACO S 295 dominates the centre of the image, but background galaxies and foreground stars are all fighting for attention, too!” The cluster contains thousands of galaxies of all ages, shapes and sizes with spiral galaxies such as the one at the centre and some edge-on spiral galaxies visible only as thin slivers of light. Together, it is estimated that the total mass of these galaxies is thousands of times greater than that of the Milky Way.
