NASA shares stunning Images of a Galaxy Cluster by Hubble Telescope

US space agency NASA shared a stunning glimpse of a galaxy cluster ACO S 295. The image features the galaxy cluster which is 3.5 billion light-years away from the Earth.

The image has been shared by NASA Hubble official Instagram page where the caption states, “A cosmic crowd dazzles in this #HubbleFriday image...”

Describing the image, the post said, “The galaxy cluster ACO S 295 dominates the centre of the image, but background galaxies and foreground stars are all fighting for attention, too!”

The cluster contains thousands of galaxies of all ages, shapes and sizes with spiral galaxies such as the one at the centre and some edge-on spiral galaxies visible only as thin slivers of light. Together, it is estimated that the total mass of these galaxies is thousands of times greater than that of the Milky Way.

In a statement, the US space agency further elaborated about galaxy cluster: "This packed image taken with the NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope showcases the galaxy cluster ACO S 295, as well as a jostling crowd of background galaxies and foreground stars. Galaxies of all shapes and sizes populate this image, ranging from stately spirals to fuzzy ellipticals. This galactic menagerie boasts a range of orientations and sizes, with spiral galaxies such as the one at the center of this image appearing almost face on, and some edge-on spiral galaxies visible only as thin slivers of light."

NASA is regularly sharing new images on its social media accounts, Hubble social media accounts, as well as Chandra X-ray social accounts. Speaking of NASA Hubble, the Instagram page recently also shared another breathtaking image of an emission nebula NGC 2313 that are bright clouds of ionized gas emitting their own light.
